Don't you think they deserve a shot at a normal life?
"I've chosen my first offucual proclamation.I've decided that the children(villain's children) on the isle of the lost be given a chance to live in Auradon."
"They(villains) are guilty of unspeakable crimes."
"Their children are innocent. Don't you think they deserve a shop at a normal life?"
give it a shot
= try to do it
= try doing it
です。
A: I don’t think I can talk to that pretty girl.
B: You should give it a shot.
(B: You should try to talk to her.)
A: I’ve never skied before.
B: Do you want to give it a shot?
(B: Do you want to try skiing?)
a long shot
= a venture likely to fail but rewarding if successful
I want to be a movie star, but I know it’s a long shot.
