「選ぶ」の使い分け方について教えてください。

質問に答えが全くつかず下に沈んでいってしまっているようなので2回目となってしまいますが、「pick up」「select」「choose」の違いは何でしょうか？教えてくれると嬉しいです。

先ずは、多分pick upではなく、pick outだと思います。

pick up は拾う、迎えに行く等
You should pick up the papers before they blow away.
When will we pick up Bob at the station?

多くの場合には、「pick out」「select」「choose」は同じです。

Pick out a nice dress to wear.
Select a nice dress to wear.
Choose a nice dress to wear.

幾つかの選択から、一つ選ぶ。

だが、二つの選択から選ぶ場合には、chooseのみ使えます。

Do you think he will choose his girlfriend over his wife?
I choose to stay home in the evening.
