この例文はあっているのでしょうか。

"from... to..."は「ある一つの点から他の一つの点まで」という意味なので、西や東などの空間に対しては使えない。
西や東などの漠然とした空間の場合は"in the east"と"in the west"となる。

中国や日本では「東から昇って西に沈む」と表現するのでよく間違えるそうです。
