受動態の進行形 or 助動詞+受動態の現在完了形
The announcement informed hotel guests they would have to use the stairs while the elevator ______.
A: was being fixed
B: would have been fixed
上記の空白に入る適切な英文を選ぶ問題において、AもBもどちらも文法的には正しいのではないかと思ってしまいました。
この場合は、文意を考えてより違和感の無い方を選ぶことになるのでしょうか。
また、AとBそれぞれでどのような日本語訳になるのでしょうか。

The elevator is being fixed.
Hotel guests will have to use the stairs while the elevator is being fixed.
The announcement informED (that the) hotel guests WOULD have to use the stairs while the elevator WAS being fixed.
言わんとすることを整理するとこうなります。文の中で時制の一致が起こっています。
The elevator will have been fixed.
Hotel guests will have to use the stairs while the elevator will have been fixed.
The announcement informED (that the) hotel guests WOULD have to use the stairs while the elevetor WOULD have been fixed.
となりますが、元の文である
The elevator will have been fixed. の意味が「エレベーターの修理が（ある未来の時点で）完了されるだろう」ということで、この全体の文が過去形になっているため、would have been fixed と仮定法過去完了になって、
「エレベーターの修理が完了されたかもしれなかったであろう間に」（？）となって、おかしなことになります。
AもBも文法的に間違ってはいないと思いますが、Bのほうはwhileの節が意味不明になります。
