This is not a piece of advice to you I'm talking to myself for my practice of writing skills.
first of all, please refer to the site. past tense refers past event occurred before now. past tense doesn't concern to the present. but present perfect tense refers past event occurred just a little before now, present perfect tense have some connection to the present ( feeling, thought. action e.g ).
form of present perfect tence = have (or has ) + past participle
