過去分詞と現在分詞の使い分け

英語の記事から引用した以下の2つの文の、分詞についての質問です。
・Why you should stay invested when the markets fall.
・Why you should keep investing when markets are down.
どちらも同じ構造と意味を持った文章だと思いますが、なぜinvestが現在分詞、過去分詞と異なるのでしょうか？
investの意味上の主語がyouであることを考えると、後者の方が自然に感じます。

"stay invested"は"keep invested"とも表現されますが「保有株式等を売却せずにそのまま持っておく」という意味で使われている文例を一つご紹介いたします:

おそらく次のような使い分けになるものと思われます:
①　Why you should _stay invested_ when the markets fall.
　　持ち株を売却しないで保有を続ける
②　Why you should _keep investing_ when markets are down.
　　投資(株式の購入)を続ける
