in AM, use rooster

in the definition of the word "cock" on Collins dictionary when I was searching about bird's molting, would be written at first item thus.
1. COUNTABLE NOUN
A cock is an adult male chicken.
[mainly British]
The cock was announcing the start of a new day.
REGIONAL NOTE:
in AM, use rooster
I wouldn't have any critical feeling at all. when I saw the last sentence I've felt a little funny/interesing/witty. would this usage of "AM" be usual?

This is a regional note, so I would think this AM stands for “American.” It is not the Latin phrase, “ante meridian,” which means “before noon.” Adult male chickens are certainly called roosters in the U.S.

Common abbreviations for American English and British English are AmE and BrE, respectively. People use different abbreviations, and some may be using AM and BR, though they are not as obvious as AmE and BrE.
