私はベルを鳴るにまかせていたの英訳として、I left the bell ringingが正しい答えですが、 I let the bell ring. にするとニュアンスが変わってくるのでしょうか？

変わります。もともと意味が異なります。

I left the bell ringing.
= The bell started ringing, and after that, I did not stop the bell.
ベルが鳴り始めてから後のこと。

I let the bell ring.
= I did not stop the bell from ringing.
ベルが鳴る瞬間と、それより前のこと。
