sが付いてるか付いていないか

Tha shop in the city usually open at 9o'clock in the morning.
Tha City Museum costes at 5o'clock in the evening.
openにはsが付いていなくてcostにesが付いている理由を教えてください。

The shop が単数なので、open には s が必要です。costes は closes の間違いでしょうか。

The shop in the city usually opens at 9 o'clock in the morning. The City Museum closes at 5 o'clock in the evening.
