会話で「kind of」は日本語で言うと「〜みたいな感じ」のようなものです。副詞の「somewhat」と同じですが、もっとカジュアルです。

「kind of」の後には名詞だけでなくて、動詞でも、形容詞でも使います。文字に書くと「kind of」ですが、実際にしゃべるときには「kinda」のように言います。

以下、あえて kinda と表記します。

My shirt is kinda pink.

That’s kinda cool.

I’m kinda afraid to talk to him.

He kinda made us all happy.
