would ratherの否定形

「would not rather」の語順で使うことがあります。それは意味が異なります。

例えば、子どもがこう言います。

I would rather have the book. I want to keep the book on my bookshelf.

I would rather not have the toy. I don’t want to keep the toy in my room.

つまり、「wouldn’t rather..」の語順は、「Are you sure you wouldn’t rather …」などのように、真偽を確認するときに使います。「rather have じゃあないのか」と問いかけるような意味合いです。たぶん、それ以外の使い道はありません。
