不定詞と動名詞　どのようにニュアンスは変わりますか。

以下の英文は正しく伝わるでしょうか？
「多くのテレビ放送は、ただ「有害だから」と言うだけで有害とは何かも定義しない、そして都合の悪い事は隠す傾向がある。」と言いたい。

There is a tendency in many TV broadcasts to just say "harmful" without defining what harmful is and to hide everything that is inconvenient.

それと、文中の to hide を hiding に変えるとニュアンスは変化するのでしょうか？
