Fight against the climate change demands electric power generation without carbon dioxide emissions. Most of the renewable energy sources, such as water power, wind energy, geothermal energy, solar energy, biomass, etc., are however subjected to strong fluctuations in their power production. Therefore, it is reasonable to carryout electrolysis during periods of surplus power generation, and to store the produced hydrogen. Then, vehicles powered by fuel-cells can make use of this hydrogen with a high efficiency. In such way, a significant portion of vehicles can be operated without carbon dioxide emissions, this leading to environmental protection.
