七五三は日本の行事なので、英語の名称は “Shichi-Go-San” です。「祝い」を付けると、“Shichi-Go-San Celebration” です。それを簡単に英語で説明するなら、こういうのはいかがでしょう。
Shichi-Go-San is a rite of passage for girls at the age of 3 and 7 and boys at the age of 5. It literally means “Seven-Five-Three” in Japanese. The Japanese celebrate the growth of these children on November 15.
細かく言えば、年齢は数え年なのでしょうが、その説明を加えると長くなります。初めて七五三について聞く人に対しては、このくらいの説明でよろしいかと思います。
