A hotelier in New York offers 25 grand to the first person who can fly from New York to Paris nonstop. It attracts various well-known names, and then, suddenly, in 1927, you have this guy, only 25 years old, a complete unknown, giving it a go. And he does it.

「you have…」というのは、「there is… 」と同じ意味で、日常の会話の中でよく使われます。
You have this guy…
= There is this guy…
こんなやつがいるんだよ
「give it a go」も、会話で使う言葉で、「思い切ってやってみる」、「する許可を正式に与える」のような意味があります。
The guy gives it a go.
= The guy tries it.
There is this guy giving it a go, and he does it.
= There is a guy who tries it, and he is successful.
