次の文におけるforの用法を教えてください。
また、同じ使い方の例を提示していただけると幸いです。

(Context: 考古学学会のミーティングで、部外者(outsiders)が専門家を個人的な疑問で質問攻めにする)

括弧は私が付けたもので、原文にはありません。

訳書では、「いっとき大会出席者全員の関心を集めたのは〜」となっているのですが、どういう理屈で「出席者の関心」という訳になるのか分かりません。
