分詞の形容詞的用法の使い分け

1. Bが正解とあるのですがCでも意味が通じるのではないのでしょうか？
2. こういった場合、現在分詞と過去分詞どちらを選ぶのがより適切なのか、瞬時に見分けるコツなどあったら教えてほしいです。
回答
(1) C は、通じるかどうかと聞かれれば、通じるでしょうが、はっきり間違っています。
(2) 受け身にすることができるかどうかで判断します。
市場は自らが拡大したり、縮小したりします。誰かに拡大されたり、縮小されたりするものではありません。こういうときは、現在分詞を使います。
Kenya’s smartphone market is growing.
Kenya has a growing market for smartphones.
The optical media market in the U.S. is shrinking because of the emergence of Internet streaming services.
The shrinking optical media market in the U.S. is due to the emergence of Internet streaming services.
反対に、他者によって影響を受けたという受け身の意味合いには、過去分詞を使います。
Broadway theaters were shut down by the pandemic.
The currently shut-down Broadway theaters will welcome fans again in September.
Jason’s bicycle was stolen.
Jason’s stolen bicycle was found by the train station.
